# How Am I Prompting?

> How Am I Prompting? (howamiprompting) is a free, open-source command-line tool that analyzes the prompts a developer writes to AI coding assistants — Claude Code, Cursor, OpenAI Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, Cline, Roo Code and more — and scores how well they prompt. Run `npx howamiprompting`. It works 100% locally, needs no sign-up, and uses the developer's own AI agent (or none) for the analysis. It is often described as "Spotify Wrapped for your AI coding prompts".

- Privacy: only the user's own typed messages are read; AI replies, tool output and pasted code/logs are dropped; API keys, tokens and passwords are redacted. Prompts are never sent to howamiprompting.com. Deep analysis runs through the user's own Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, Anthropic/OpenAI/OpenRouter API key, or a local Ollama model. `--no-ai` keeps everything offline.
